Updates on a Few Harrison Mayes Markers

A few updates on Henry Harrison Mayes roadside markers. Devon Tuttle and Roger May provided me with the exact locations and photos of two corrugated metal crosses that were listed here with an approximate location. One outside Rutherfordton, NC and the other outside Steele, AL. Also, it appears that the Montgomery, AL concrete cross was hit or something. It was missing from StreetView photos in 2024, but Roger May sent me two current photos that show the cross back near its old location, but patched up. Some parts of the inscription are plastered over or were recreated, which leads me to the assumption that maybe a car crashed into it.

I’m always happy when someone sends me updates out of the blue, and it’s nice to see that people are taking care of the last remaining markers.
