Rev. Roger Powell
Rev. Roger Powell pastor of the Church of God of the Mountain Assembly in Lake City, Tennessee, taught himself to read from the King James version of the Bible.
He was a friends with Harrison Mayes and helped him with his truck, distributing the signs. He also connected Eleanor Dickinson with Harrison Mayes.
It was REV. ROGER Powell who first told Eleanor Dickinson how to find his friend, Harrison Mayes. During the years he worked as a truck driver Reverend Powell made several trips across the country with Brother Mayes, driving truckloads of signs and helping to install them.
REV. ROGER POWELL: “Actually, this thing with him is beyond the natural man. It’s the supernatural, all right. And it’s working through the man, just like it is in me praying for the sick. I’m just a man. But if I put my hands on him and a fellow gets well, that’s more than a man.

That’s the way it is. And so he’s got the directions on putting those signs up, just the same as I have getting a text to preach from it, or a verse of scripture, see? He has the same thing. It’s a—he’s got his directions. He can tell you right where it ought to be. He’s got it in his mind right where they’re going to be before he leaves home—about where they’re going to set. He can just about pinpoint them, just about where they’ll be, and he knows what he’s doing—he knows.”
