The Gospel Plough XIV

Somewhere in the (server) clouds of the internet hides a podcast called The Gospel Plough (this one). It came from my desire to make mixtapes, which might be the wrong term here, but every middle-aged man made them in the eighties and nineties, and many middle-aged women received them. Not with this kind of music, though.

Anyway, I call them mixtapes because it’s a music mix. I distribute it as a podcast because it’s the easiest and nowadays the most common way to subscribe to digital media for free. Does anybody remember RSS? It’s as ancient as cassette mixtapes, even if the technology is still used by Apple Podcasts.

After this incoherent tech intro, here is what to expect: This is the music I collected over the last few months and that I want to listen to in the car or when I’m outside. The music comes partially from my own record transfers, trades with other collectors, and downloads mainly from YouTube. I can’t thank enough Paul of Hinton Press, the various Ethans from Zappaphonics Records and Metro Records, Fixed Elsewhere/Night Tide Records, Josh Owens, Terry Gordon, Lexingtunes, Dollar Country, and anyone else I may have overlooked for generously sharing their discoveries.

In this field of music, where there appears to be an infinite amount of records flying under the radar, molding in damp basements, and getting dusty in barns and attics, sharing leads to more discoveries. At least that’s my opinion.
